A7Although Apple and Samsung are in an embroiled patent law suit that’s lasted the last three years, other parts of the South Korean electronics giant are still supplier to Apple.

Before heading to the courtroom over patent issues, Samsung and Apple used to have a very good relationship. In fact it was a relationship that was set up by Steve Jobs on several trips to South Korea.

Samsung’s semiconductor business and their display business supply a wide variety of manufacturers and throughout the history of iPods, iPhones and iPads, Samsung has supplied Apple with both.

Now timesofindia.com is reporting that Samsung once again finds their parts inside the latest iteration of the iPhone. TimesofIndia cites findings from a Japanese firm that said there was evidence that the latest iPhone is using Samsung’s A7 processor. This was backed up by a Chipsworks’ analysis of the new iPhone 5S. CNet backed up this claim pointing to a thorough dissection of the 5S by Nikkei Electornics.

According to all of these sources the A7, Apple’s new chip found in the iPad Air, iPad Mini With Retina and the iPhone 5S, is built on Samsung’s 28-nanometer manufacturing process.

But there are conflicting reports, timesofindia also reports that Apple has also been working with TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) as well as Global Foundries, both could also be a source of the manufacturing.
