Arguably one of the best pop music performers of all time, people have been wondering what Prince has been doing over the past 15 years or so. The answer, suing people.

Prince is very protective of his music catalog. To some, he seems almost over protective, it is after all, 2014. To Prince, no form of using his music online is ok. Last year for instance he issues DCMA take down notices to Vine for people who chose to post 6 second live performance clips of the artist formerly known as the artist formerly known as Prince.

Now, bloggers Dan Chodera and Karina Jindrova along with 20 more anonymous bloggers have found themselves on the receiving end of million dollar lawsuits (that’s each by the way). Fast Company reports that one of the infringers has 363 infringing links. Some of the anonymous infringing sites include “The Ultimate Bootleg Experience” and “PSP Music Blog.”

Many artists these days incorporate lost revenue to pirated and bootleg sites in their overall strategy, but pirating, bootlegging and copyright infringement can add up for an artist. For instance we reported last year that after just two weeks Beyoncé had lost an estimated $4 million dollars to pirates.

Without any new material it’s understandable why the artist would aggressively protect his material, or is it?
