SensorSuite-SideTechnology has allowed us to do some incredible things. Right now everyone is talking about the internet of things and sensors. It’s all predicated on this amazing fact, using the internet and a mobile device you can make things in real life happen. No longer are you restricted to a virtual world. We’ve seen this time and time again.

Sensors, switches, robots, thermostats, wristbands, smart watches and other things that were just science fiction a few years ago are real now. Now you can use your phone to check the cycle in your washing machine. You can use your smartphone to open the blinds, set the alarm and even turn the temperature up and down in your home.

Sensorsuite, a Canadian company, has taken some of those ideas and made it so building managers, property owners and superintendents can monitor and control a buildings most critical functions from the palm of your hand.

Using Sensorsuite’s combination of hardware and software a building superintendent can quickly find out if there’s a water leak in the boiler room. They can even control the boiler from Sensorsuite’s app saving energy, time and even money. Lot’s of it. Boiler rooms and refrigeration system repairs can cost in the tens of thousands of dollars. A little pre-emptive monitoring and maintenance can prevent those costly repairs.

Sensorsuite is like a “virtual nervous system” for a building or group of buildings. HVAC, environment, electricity and more can be monitored by Sensorsuite’s proprietary sensors and through their mobile app and web based platform. Now, a multi building superintendent can monitor and be quickly notified if anything is wrong with any of their properties. They can dispatch repair men and women instantly as a problem arises.

Sensorsuite-middleSensorsuite also allows a building manager to monitor things like temperature and climate in conference rooms and ballrooms that are left vacant 70% of the time. Did the last rental forget to turn the air conditioning back up to 72? That can prove to be costly in electric bills if the next rental isn’t for a week. Sensorsuite can notify someone if that happens, they can then use the same app to move the AC back to where it needs to be.

The company also offers a hotel solution that can add up to big savings for hotel owner operators. The Sensorsuite hotel solutions allow owners, operators and hotel managers to optimize vacant rooms. Now, by using an app they can instantly tell what rooms have the AC cranked too low and what guests left the lights on after checking out.

Things like Fitbit, Fitbug and the Nike Fuel band are all made to monitor a persons fitness and health. Sensorsuite is the health monitor for buildings with a wide range of functionality giving users a birds eye view of everything from light levels to motion, door access, machine failure and more. It’s the brain child of Robert Platek who’s always had an interest in programming, and bridging computers and devices into real world technologies that do things. After taking a hiatus to become a rockstar Platek found his calling with his childhood best friend, now the company’s’ CTO and his father who serves as COO.
