Virgin-iPhone5sTypically when a new and exciting smartphone gets to the six month mark you can almost always anticipate a price drop. That holds true for Android phones, Windows phones and Blackberry. Not often do you see big deals on the latest iPhone until we get really close to the end of the cycle, which usually occurs in September.

That’s not the case with off-contract wireless provider Virgin, a subsidiary of Sprint.

Virgin Mobile now has the iPhone 5s (16gb) for $440. Now you may say that’s expensive, if you’re looking for a contract it would be but that’s an off-contract price. $440 and the iPhone 5s is yours.

If you want the 32gb iPhone 5s you’re looking at $520 and the 64gb will set you back $600. Now breathe again and remember this is an off-contract, the phone is yours price. There are some on-contract iPhone 5s deals that may look cheaper, for instance Best Buy had the 5s at $125 at one point this winter and Walmart had the 5s at $119 earlier this month according to gottabemobile.com. However all of those prices require a contract or “financing” as the carriers like to call it these days.

As for your data plans, Virgin’s Beyond Talk unlimited 3G/4G data is just $55 a month. If you live in a major city with impeccable Sprint coverage this may just be the deal you’ve been looking for.
