Several mobile apps and even mobile OS features allow you to print from your smartphone to any network connected printer. Other apps allow you to print to your neighborhood office store and other connected devices. Still even more apps allow you to print photos from your phone to your neighborhood pharmacy or even WalMart. But what about those who can’t even wait to go to one of those places to pick up photos.
Years ago as the mobile road warrior became a thing, there were several “portable printers” but most of them had hard to find paper, ink that looked worse than a cash register tape, or batteries that weighed five pounds. But thanks to innovations in technology photo quality pocket printers are a thing now.
LG was one of the first large manufacturers to release a quality pocket photo printer and now they’ve built on that design with the introduction of their new Pocket Photo 2.0.
The Pocket Photo 2.0 “smart mobile printer” connects to your Android or iOS phone by way of NFC (Android) or Bluetooth (iOS and Android). You can then print custom 5.1×7.6cm photos
The upgraded printer is 4mm thinner than the original Pocket Photo and actually offers more prints per charge as well. According to UberGizmo users can now get 30 prints out of the printer before needing to recharge the batteries. It’s a cinch to operate, simply download LG’s Pocket Photo editing app fro the iTunes App Store or the Google Play Store and voila, you’re in business.
The Pocket Photo 2.0 doesn’t even need ink. It uses ZINK technology which heats up the Pocket Photo paper which has the “color forming chemistry” already embedded in each sheet, similar to that of an old school Polaroid (without the “shake it like a Polaroid picture” part).
LG will be showing off the Pocket Photo 2.0 printer at CES 2014 in Las Vegas January 7-10th.
