Just in time for March Madness, on Monday, the Atlantic Coast Conference Digital Network (ACCDN) announced the launch of the ‘ACC Sports’ channel on Apple TV. The ACC Network will be the official home for ACC highlights – across all sports – and detailed in-depth coverage. The channels March launch will contain some special NCAA Tournament coverage:
Specifically for March, host Jeff Fischel, along with former ACC basketball greats Drew Barry and JR Reid, will follow ACC teams as they advance throughout the tournament with game previews, analysis and a “Road to Texas” feature series…”ACC Sports” will feature access to Campus Insiders, the leading digital college sports network covering all major collegiate conferences. As part of its March programming, Campus Insiders will cover the NCAA basketball post-season from start to finish with daily reports from top tier talent including Bonnie Bernstein, Seth Davis and more than 100 insiders reporting from campuses across the nation.1
While the ACC does not have the fans of, say, the SEC – really based on football alone, the quality of the SEC’s basketball is nowhere near that of the ACC – this will certainly be a major monetary boost the the conference. Further, the NCAA Tournament seems the perfect time to launch the ACC Network – although the ACC Tournament last week would have probably been better. The ACC is sending 6 teams to the NCAA Tournament (Duke, North Carolina, N.C. State, Pitt, Syracuse, Virginia) second to only the Big 12 Conference, which is sending 7 teams.2
