We told you a little bit about Bycle a few days ago, but the company was pretty secretive in the run up to One Spark. On Thursday, however, we got a chance to see the real, final product. It did not disappoint.
Put quite simply, Bycle is both a mount to attach your smartphone to a bycicle, and an app to track, navigate, and record your rides. That said, the Bycle mount is incredibily creative and beautifully designed:
This mount is ingenious. So there are mounts available already, but these mounts allow for only navigation or only video recording. That is just the nature of attaching a mount on a bicycle. The angles of a bicycle and of a smartphone make it difficult to do both navigation and have a heads up GPS navigation. Enter Bycle. The Bycle mount incorporates a strategically placed mirror, allowing a heads up display and video recording:
This water resistant BycleMount allows you to quickly & easily improve the integration between your phone and your bicycle to navigate your device while recording great video from its camera.1
The mount on its own is awesome, but when the Bycle app combines with the mount, it is a whole different level of awesomeness. The app has many of the standard health and fitness functionalities like activity measurement and distance/route tracking. However, the Bycle app has a ton of bike and video recording and editing functionality: speed measurement, route navigation, route mapping, and a ton of video editing functionality. We had a chance to speak with one of the Co-Founders of Bycle and learned a ton about the mount/app combo:
