There are basically two kinds of headphones in the world. The cheap kind which fall apart after a year (or less) of use. And the uber expensive kind which come with some rapper’s name attached to them to sell more headphones. Truth be told, as someone who loves to listen to good sounding headphones I’ve always favored the Sony MDR-7506 and the Koss Pro 4AA, both of those headphones could withstand a huge beating and sounded amazing. Problem is neither of those are around anymore and in the $300 variety of headphones you’re really only paying for the name associated with them whether it be Dr. Dre, 50 Cent or Ludacris. Well Daniel Ahman has decided to do something about it. Ahman has introduced his new line of headphones called the DANDYCAN. Ahman is based in Sweden where they know a thing or two about function and design. That’s exactly what they promise with the DANDYCAN headphones. DANDYCAN headphones promise to be durable, beautiful and sound fantastic. The parts that usually wear out like the cable and the ear pads are interchangeable. The headphones are made out of leather and metal and don’t have any weak mechanics making the DANDYCANs practically indestructible. “The DANDYCAN headphones are all metal and leather with no breakable mechanics. The design combines modern and retro and has a sleek and classic look. It is made to be easy and simple to change the cable and the ear pads because they are actually the only parts that might eventually wear out. Scandinavian design at its best!” The company said on their Indiegogo page. But not only do the DANDYCAN headphones look good but they sound good as well. The DANDYCAN team paid careful attention to detail when designing the headphones to be acoustically sound. “We believe that premium acoustics on a premium headphone should be standard. The combination of an acoustic chamber in aluminium and a high quality 40 mm premium speaker is probably the best start you can get. We then used an acoustic lab to tune and trim the sound curves to what we believe are great acoustics. We have achieved excellent acoustics on the mock-up but we will continue to fine tune during the next phase to create the perfect acoustics. ” they said about the sound of DANDYCAN. Finally DANDYCAN includes a one button mic/remote that can be used to answer and hangup on calls. The remote can be used to play/pause/skip songs and activate your voice control. DANDYCAN tech specs: Transducer Principle: Dynamic, Closed Driver Unit Size: 40 mm (Neodymium) Impedance: 32 Ohms Frequency Response: 20 – 20.000 Hz Maximum Power: 30 mV Weight Without Cable: ~200 gram Microphone Directivity: Omni-Directional Total Harmonic Distortion: <0.3% Sensitivity: 103 db/mW You can find out more and preorder DANDYCAN here.
