Facebook thought they did something epic and nice as a 10th birthday present to their users. No it wasn’t screwing you over by stealing your name. I’m talking about the look back videos.
Chances are by now you’ve either seen 100 look back videos or you’ve posted yours to at least 100 of your close friends. While the Facebook Look Back video was nice, it was very cookie cutter and users have no control over what was posted to the video montage. It was “auto-magical” if you will.
Because of that I have more than a few Facebook friends who’ve gotten into trouble with new significant others over previous relationships on Facebook. If you joined from 2004-2006 chances are there’s a girlfriend or boyfriend you’re no longer with in that feed. Or even worse, an ex-wife or husband.
When it all comes down to it, the Facebook Look Back videos were “safe” almost to the point of nauseum. We all know that the Lookback videos were just a good interpretation of your uploads over a decade (watch out Timehop). But what about all those “bad” Faebook posts. The night you went on a drunken stupor, the night you hit the party bong one too may times, or the passive aggressive attack on an ex-lover. What about that picture of you twerking, or dropping that thun thun thun. Those pics didn’t seem to make it into the Look Back Video.
This video, seems to be a much better interpretation of what Look Back should have looked like.
