Freelance marketplace Fiverr has been around connecting freelancers to customers around the world since 2011. Now we’re talking graphic artists, comedians, marketers, gift designers and creators, not handymen and plumbers.
With Fiverr if you’re looking to spoof a friend with a voice mail message from Sean Connery, or you need an infographic based on your data set, you can find a freelancer to do that project for you on Fiverr. The best part, projects start at just $5. There are thousands of creators and people ready to work your project at Fiverr.
The web platform has been a big hit, but Fiverr was lacking a mobile presence. Until now.
Venturebeat reported on Tuesday that Fiverr has introduced a mobile app to the iTunes app store. The mobile experience is very similar to the web experience. The iOS app makes it easier for creators to connect with their customers and users. It also makes it easier for potential customers to think of something on the fly. Got a crazy idea for a Barack Obama impersonation you can order it up on the fly, from your iPhone.
Fiverr CEO Micah Kaufman told Venturebeat that this was just the beginning of the company’s mobile strategy. They plan on introducing an Android app in the early part of next year and they will continue to tweak their mobile offerings. Kaufman anticipates that the mobile economy will generate billions of dollars in the coming years and mobile will play a big part in that. “Mobile will accelerate the booming freelancing market, and we believe we are at the forefront of this movement,” Kaufman told Venturebeat in an email.
