On Thursday, March 27, Dwolla announced that they had partnered with domain registrar GoDaddy to offer a new e-invoicing system. Dwolla, if you have never heard of the Des Moines company, is a payment processing company, similar to PayPal but with a few major differences. Way back at the beginning of 2013, Dwolla COO Charise Flynn told us about the company:
We [Dwolla] were created to cut out the credit card fees and to build a brand new cash face network. In a sense you can thing about PayPal and how it allows you to electronically send or receive money. The big difference that Dwolla has is that we started from scratch, building it ground-up with our own new set of rails and our fee structure is really straightforward. We have a 25 cent percent fee for $10 up to $10,000 that you can move for 25 cents. Transactions under $10 are completely free.
The new partnership between Dwolla and GoDaddy allows GoDaddy’s business customers to receive payments electronically when invoicing customers. According to the announcement of Dwolla’s blog:
GoDaddy has created a one-step flow that allows its customers to begin e-invoicing and collecting Dwolla payments instantly without needing to register for a free Dwolla account. This means that ACME Company can send an e-invoice to the Roadrunner and get paid without any additional steps.
Once an invoice is paid, customers are invited back to register for a full Dwolla account and enjoy their savings.1
Further, the new GoDaddy e-invoicing platform does not require any additional sign-up or info. Late in 2012, Dwolla introduced a ‘Guest Checkout’ feature. With, “Dwolla’s new guest checkout integration option, anyone can use Dwolla to make a one-time payment from his or her financial institution to an online merchant or marketplace.”2
This is another major step for Dwolla, who last year partnered with the state of Iowa to process some state tax payments.3
