Google loves to go all out on location. Throughout my tech writing career of experienced an Android slide in Barcelona, an amazing Google blogger lounge at the 2012 Democratic National Convention, a takeover of an entire street at SXSW 2012 and several Google conference parties with robots, sphero balls, crazy photo booths and of course the sweets that their Android names are based on.
Now Google is letting everyone else experience a little of their creativity and their magic with holiday pop up shops across the country.
The shops are to let people experience the latest Android phones, and tablets, check out the latest web apps and Google services and see what the future of Chromebooks looks like. Business Insider pointed out that the one thing absent of the Google pop up holiday shops is the chance to experience Google Glass (perhaps there’s another delay).
One of the biggest attractions is real life sized snow globes where people who come to the Google pop up shop can go into the snow globe and create slo-mo videos to keep or share across their social networks.
Google’s calling the pop-up shops “Winter WonderLab” Based on their official website it seems that you can play with all their devices and than order them to be delivered in time for the holidays, but they aren’t doing cash and carry sales. The website also highlights that you can try out ChromeCast which is Google’s new USB tv dongle that puts web services right on any USB enabled television, as well.
The Google Wonderlab locations are: New York City, Washington DC, Chicago, Los Angeles, New Jersey and Sacremento.
