According to many different reports HTC has been hard at work on a wearable device of some sort. In fact, back in July, HTC may have inadvertently leaked their very own smartwatch.
Now with the specifications of the Apple Watch out of the bag and Samsung producing a new wearable every month, HTC has seen where the opportunities are in the wearable market. HTC is specifically looking to create a wearable that would compliment the user’s every day lifestyle.
“We’ve seen a lot of general purpose wearables come to market, there’s not a strong reason to wear one every day. When we come to market with our product we want to make sure the product has a strong point of view and there is a really compelling reason to strap it on your wrist.” Drew Bamford Head of HTC Creative Labs said.
The company, which was once a powerhouse in the Android ecosystem, was planning on launching their wearable device in time for this upcoming holiday season, however androidandme reports that, that plan, may have been derailed.
“We had originally planned to have a wearable launch in this time frame, it ended up just not being ready.” HTC’s Jason McKenzie told re/code.
HTC wants to take more time to make sure that they “get it right”
“We think the strategy we were working on will get us there, but we want to take our time and get it right,” Bamford said. “We honestly don’t think anyone has gotten it right.”
