Before he went absolutely nuts, was wanted for questioning in a murder, and escaped capture in the thicks of South Africa, John McAfee was the founder of one of the most popular anti-virus products in the world, simply called McAfee. At a time when computers were just starting to become household items McAfee and his team had developed a product now known as virus scan.
Now, with most of his legal woes behind him, McAfee and his company Future Tense Central (FTC) have teamed up with Etransfr to release a new private, secure and encrypted messaging app called Chadder.
There are plenty of other chat apps out there. There are some that have become huge like SnapChat, but what Chadder has going for it is McAfee. While some may dispute his relevance though as he left the company with his name on it 20 years ago. However, if you’ve kept up with McAfee he seems extremely serious about privacy and about the government not meddling in ones affairs. In some circles McAfee is considered a hero in “keeping the internet free”
Also to Chadder’s advantage is the fact that the encryption in the encrypted text messaging app is done client side. This means that before you even send that message it’s scrambled. It’s not left for Cheddars servers to scramble which means it can’t be intercepted by hackers at the company level. At least not easily.
The app is currently in public beta for Android and the team hopes to launch it in the iOS app store shortly.
