How many times has your smartphone run out of juice? For me, a ton of times. As much as 65% of people run out of power for their smartphone a day. That is an astounding number. Three, “ambitious high school girls,” have take to Indiegogo with a unique solution to the problem: Jubo.
Emily Sheng, Sonia Appasamy, and Rachel Zhou have teamed up to create Jubo at an MIT Entrepreneurial program. Jubo, in a nutshell, is a vending machine that would rent out rechargeable battery powerbanks. According to the Jubo Indiegogo Campaign:
We are currently developing unique vending machines at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. However, we need your financial help in order to continue designing and manufacturing this advanced technology so that millions of people around the world can feed their phones. We believe that our service will offer a convenient way for busy on-the-go commuters to ensure that their smartphones last longer during critical moments throughout the day.1
This is an incredibly unique solution to one of the most frustrating technology problems of our day. The campaign is set to end on September 17. Here is a quick look at the vision of Jubo, and what its implementation may look like:
