In what was probably the most straightforward concept of any company/booth we visited at the 2014 Florida Educational Technology Conference, we had a chance to speak with representatives from Mac of All Trades. While simple, Mac of All Trades provides a much needed service.
Imagine that you just purchased the new, top of the line Apple product, lets say the MacBook Pro Retina, but you are left with an old MacBook 13-inch 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo. What do you do with it? Give it to a friend? Sell it on Craigslist or eBay? Keep it? There are many options, but it seems most take an awful lot of time, and are far from certain to bring any sort of returns. There is another option.
Mac of All Trades will buy your Apple device for a reasonable price. While, yes, you do stand to make more by selling your old device on Craigslist or eBay, but that is very far from a sure thing, and you may be waiting months for any sort of offer. If you sell to Mac of All Trades, the process is simple and painless. According to their FAQs:
To get started, find your exact model using the Mac-Estimator in the Seller’s section of our site. We respond with a formal offer, which you have three (3) business days to accept. We then email Purchase Order documentation and instructions for sending your equipment. A prepaid UPS Ground Return Label follows to cover shipping.
We test and inspect your equipment upon arrival and send payment two (2) business days after receiving the equipment. PayPal payment and overnight check options are available. Custom shipping boxes for transit are also available.
All-in-all, you are looking at about a 5-6 maximum waiting period. That sure beats months. That same old MacBook 13-inch 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo will net you around $235.
At FETC, we learned a little bit more about the company, and about their enterprise volume program:
