Since the beginning of Android Samsung has released over 100 different Android powered devices. Beginning with the Samsung Behold, and the Samsung Moment, and then expanding to a higher end line of devices, in their Galaxy S series, Samsung has had their finger on the pulse of what’s hot in Android.
But a new report from Chitika and first reported on by BGR, suggests that consumers are going for Samsung quality over quantity. Perhaps releasing so many different devices may actually be hurting the South Korean consumer electronics giant.
In a report called “North American Samsung Smartphone Usage Breakdown By Model” Chitika reveals that the Samsung Galaxy SIV and it’s predecessor the Samsung Galaxy S3 account for over half of all of Samsung’s mobile traffic.
Chitika is also quick to note that the Galaxy Note line accounts for over 13% of all US Samsung mobile traffic, which says something about display size. “71% of all Samsung traffic comes from devices with with 4.8-inch displays or larger. Samsung has effectively bumped up size expectations for the smartphone market.” Chitika reported.
Regardless of which Samsung device you may have, Chitika did declare Samsung a huge winner in the smartphone race. “While significantly behind Apple in terms of usage share, Samsung is far and away the largest Android player in the space, and its recent releases have been well received domestically.”
