Samsung LogoWhen the original Samsung Galaxy Tab debuted the Korean electronics giant was quick to jump on the horn and say that their original tablet sold 2 million units in as little as six weeks. Research firms like Strategic Analytics were quick to rebut those numbers. At the time Samsung was mum on whether that was tablets shipped or tablets sold, leaving people wondering if they had stock piled the Android tablets in warehouses across the globe after “shipping” them.

The Apple, Samsung patent lawsuit continues to reveal some of the juiciest tidbits in tech history. Over the past few weeks stories have emerged revealing Apple’s true feelings about Android, Samsung’s worry about Apple and more, but the latest information has some Samsung customers, retailers and even loyalists doing a double take.

According to BGR grossly overstated may not even quantify what happened with the original Galaxy Tab. A Samsung internal document, revealed during the patent lawsuit and posted here at BGR.com clearly shows that in all of 2011 Samsung only sold 1 million Galaxy Tabs vs the 2 million originally reported. That means that the Samsung tablet sold significantly less than even the Amazon Kindle Fire and the Barnes and Noble Nook.

The latest data is causing analysts industry wide to stick with their guns in their belief that the original Samsung Galaxy Gear was an epic flop. It’s been estimated that Samsung sold around 50,000 of their first gen smartwatch while Samsung insists that they sold over 800,000 units. Samsung was quick to release not just a new Galaxy Gear watch but an entire new line consisting of two smart watches and a fitness wristband.
