Stuck in the friend zone? Well good news. On March 17th, Ansell, the maker of LifeStyles SKYN Condoms released “a social media app that will help users escape the “friend zone” and enter the “SKYN Zone.”¹ Not only will the new SKYN Link app help you get out of the friend zone, but it allows you to do so anonymously so as to avoid any embarrassment or  awkward situations. This seems like a natural progression for the company.

Essentially, SKYN Link functions very much like Down, née Bang With Friends, with a few additional features here and there:

After downloading the app, to put SKYN® Link into action, users will sign into their Facebook accounts and a list of all their Facebook friends will generate. Users then scroll through the list to select the friends they might want to “Hook Up” with.  If the friend doesn’t already have the SKYN Link app, you can invite them anonymously or through social networks. All anonymous invites are sent from a SKYN Link email address, noting that someone is asking to “Hook Up,” and advising the invitee how to download the app to find out if there is a connection.²

What makes this product unique, more than the actual app, is who built it. SKYN Link is, at the very least, a great marketing ploy for the LifeStyles brand. A condom company facilitating the use of their product. Carol Carrozza, VP of Sales & Marketing, North America for Ansell, the makers of SKYN, said as much in a statement:

Having revolutionized the condom aisle in 2008 with the release of SKYN, the first polyisoprene condom on the market, Ansell sought to create a  corresponding social application that is as innovative as the SKYN brand itself…SKYN Link encourages users to take a risk and make a real connection with an existing Facebook friend, while promoting safety and responsibility for any sexual encounters that may result.³
