There are a ton of collaboration tools out there. Things like Dropbox, Box, Evernote, and Google Drive allow users to collaborate and edit various kinds of documents. These are great, but they lack one major feature, they lack any sort of drawing and whiteboard tools. That is where BaiBoard comes in. BaiBoard integrates their drawing and whiteboard tools into Google Drive, Dropbox, and Evernote. We had a chance to ask the BaiBoard team a few questions about their company:
BaiBoard
What is BaiBoard?
We are the developer of BaiBoard, a cloud based collaboration app that connects teachers and students with content creation, sharing and collaboration tools. Through the use of whiteboard, drawing tools, customizable stencils, PDF, images and integration with Google Drive, Dropbox and Evernote, educators are able to create rich educational content and collaborate with students.
Who is BaiBoard for? Who are your users?
BaiBoard target the following audience:
1. Distance learning educators/students.
2. K-12 schools.
3. Small & medium sized business with needs for cloud based mobile collaboration.
What makes BaiBoard different than what is currently available?
BaiBoard is currently ranked #1 in iPad based collaboration apps in terms of rating and active usage. The main differentiators between BaiBoard and others – BaiBoard really focuses on multi-content based collaboration. Users have access to not only variety of built-in tools and integrated online services but also creating re-usable stencils – math formulas, cell diagrams etc. Secondly, BaiBoards adopts persistent cloud storage for collaboration sessions, thus enable asynchronous mode in addition to real-time.
Why did you get involved in the Ed-Tech space?
When we initially launched BaiBoard in late 2012, we had no idea that education was going to be our main target market. Six months after launching, it was obvious that BaiBoard gained more traction among educators, and Ed-Tech Twitter chats was a strong indicator. Today, BaiBoard has about 130,000 active users and 75% of them are in EDU.
Tell us about your team and their backgrounds
Our team consists of experts in VoIP, video conferencing and unified communications, and we have founded multiple startups in enterprise communication space. Our weakness is lack of in-depth EDU domain knowledge, but that is something we are working hard on.
What is the next step? What do your current goals look like?
We are mostly self-funded so far and we do plan to raise a round of funding this year to expand our R&D capacity. We have engaged in number of strategic discussions with number enterprise communications vendors and we will be continue to be open about it.
