As the world is slowly, but surely, adopting 3D printing, there are some wonderful products being made. We just had a chance to speak with one company, Versoteq, who is at the forefront of 3D printed products. The team told us a little bit about the process as well as their latest project:

What is Versoteq?
Web based 3D applications mainly for 3D printing, 3D visualization and mass customization.
How is Versoteq different from what is currently available?
There are few 3D printing related web applications but our products are aimed for everyday use and can combine more than just 3D printing. We also sell our software for the needs of companies mass customization and 3D visualization.
Tell us your founding story. Was there an “ah ha” moment?
Our company started as DIY project for an art piece which was meant for one of our founders wall. It was decided that we would use 3D printing and include electronics for lighting. We saw that 3D printing has huge potential and it needed easy ways to create 3D models. It soon escalated to a software project to sell modular pieces with a 3D visualization via internet browser. That specific art piece was finished and the company was founded. Now we’ve been able to sell our software to companies and make customizable 3D printed products available through our web shop.
Tell us about your founding team and their backgrounds.

Family, children, work, problem solving, having fun, coding – just to list a few things that I love. I believe in industrial reorganization (revolution), where new ways to design, manufacture and store items are going shake the old traditional ways of doing things. I am ready, are you?

We’ve also founded a branch to the UK to go international and sell our software outside the Nordics. We plan to increase our software sales and also our product sales via our own web shop. More products will follow after the Kickstarter project has finished. Product development is supported at the moment by Tekes (the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation).
