China was a little late to the iPhone game but now it appears they aren’t going to let that happen again.
On Tuesday, Apple CEO Tim Cook, will take to the stage at DeAnza College in Cupertino California to announce new products from Apple.
Now, they haven’t officially said the press conference is for the iPhone 6 however the past four iterations of iPhone have been announced at a press event in early September followed by a release date towards the end of the month.
What the world is expecting
Based on several sources, rumors and just the normal way Apple does things we are all expecting at least one iPhone to be announced on Tuesday. Several sources believe we may see two iPhones announced, one that is the same size if not close in size to the current iPhone 5s model and one that has a bit larger footprint.
The other thing we are expecting is the announcement of an Apple wearable, that in most tech circles is being called the “iWatch”. The iWatch goes along with the Apple strategy and the health apps that were announced at the Apple World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) back in June. If the iWatch is in fact announced it will be the first new product category introduced under Tim Cook’s leadership.
But with all this in mind Apple hasn’t announced anything except this event coming up on Tuesday. Since they haven’t announced anything yet, nothing actually exists and there is nothing, yet, to preorder.
That’s not stopping carriers in China from taking preorders though. Gottabemobile is reporting that Chinese carriers “have already begun iPhone 6 pre-orders ahead of its non-existent release date.”
China Mobile has gone as far as to take 30,000 preorders on a 4.7″ and a 5.5″ iPhone model, neither of which have been announced. They’ve taken these preorders in 16gb, 32gb and 64gb storage sizes, which are the three sizes Apple typically releases.
There’s no telling what they’ll do if they’re wrong on any of these rumors. One things for sure though, tune in Tuesday for what’s gearing up to be the most anticipated iPhone launch in history.
