While Apple makes pushing updates for their devices seem like a breeze Samsung is currently struggling with the Android 4.3 update on some of their Galaxy Devices. A few weeks ago Samsung began a staged roll out of Android 4.3 for the international Samsung Galaxy S3, and over this past weekend AT&T began pushing the update out for the Galaxy S4. Almost immediately users started reporting issues on each respective update, and the complaints seemed to have caught the attention of Samsung.
Samsung has confirmed that they have halted the update at this time due to the complaints, and in a statement to SamMobile they had the following to say.
“As we are currently investigating the reported issues with Galaxy S3 4.3 Jelly Bean update, the upgrading service has been temporarily suspended. We are committed to providing customers with the best possible mobile experience, and will ensure to resume the upgrading service at the earliest possibility.”
While the statement is directly in reference to the international Samsung Galaxy S3 devices, reports are that the issues were very similar in the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 update. Some of the complaints that seemed to be most common were freezing screens, abnormal battery discharge and wireless connectivity issues. In addition some users were noticing lag in waking the device, Bluetooth playback issues, stuttering while playing back music through the stock music app and poor RAM management. These issues proved big enough for Samsung to halt the update, but they have said they are working to fix the issues and continue the roll out as soon as they are able to provide the best experience.
Hopefully Samsung is hard at work to bring this update as it brings additional users compatibility with the Galaxy Gear, something Samsung has been having a little bit of trouble in actually selling to consumers thus far. For now the update is not available to any new users and there is no time frame for a release of a fixed update. If you were able to get the update before it got pulled, how is it performing for you?
