If you notice the white light up Apple logos are red today, it’s not because of the holidays and it’s for today only. Why you ask? Because today is World AIDS day.
Apple is a big supporter of World AIDS Day, a day intended to help educate people globally about AIDS. Last year the company turned their Apple logos red at their flagship London store and their Fifth Avenue store in New York City. They also highlighted World AIDS day on their website with links to Project Red. 9to5Mac is reporting that this is being done this year as well.
Project Red is a way that people can show their support for World AIDS Day and people who suffer from AIDS as well. Project Red takes products and releases them in limited edition versions that are also red. In a tweet last year, Project Red revealed that Apple had contributed $65 million dollars to the cause.
Apple’s Project Red products this year include:
- Red iPad Air Smar Cover
- Red iPad Mini Smart Cover
- Red iPhone 4s bumper case
- Red iPhone 5s case
- Red iPod Nano
- Red iPod Shuffle
- Red iPod touch
There are a variety of limited edition t-shirts, sporting goods, clothes and other tech related items. Beats by Dre offers a pair of Red Solo headphones and the Red Beats By Dre Pill Bluetooth speaker. Mophie has a variety of products that they’ve turned red as well.
