Classwrites, OneSpark, EdTechOver the past year we’ve seen quite a bit of great educational technology. From our coverage of FETC, TECA and SXSWedu we’ve seen a lot of systems that help teachers manage students, assignments, grades and more. Diane Bixler, an educator for nearly two decades, has developed a new workflow management system for educators, with a nice charitable twist.

Classwrites is going to be a workflow management system for teachers with the emphasis being on collaborative writing. Using ClassWrites, the teacher actually uses technology to supervise as the “class writes”, hence the great name. The ClassWrites platform is COPPA compliant which means each individual students parents will be able to monitor their child’s work, as well as see due dates and project specifications. Parents will also be able to enjoy the collective, collaborative finished assignment.

One of the keyparts to the collaborative nature of ClassWrites is the new Common Core requirements ”

the Common Core State Standards being executed in K-12 schools nationally specifically calls for efficient workflow and collaboration. CLASSwrites is perfectly aligned with these standards. It effectively enhances education and saves teachers preparation time” Bixler said on here OneSpark profile page.

A teacher will be able to gauge where each student is within the assignment, grade it, and give feedback. They will then be able to take the entire collaborative assignment and publish it as a fundraising opportunity. This one feature already sets ClassWrites apart from the others.

This desire to turn collaborative writing into a fundraising opportunity comes from Bixler’s background in teaching exceptional students. She has been a teacher of students with disabilities, special needs and even spent nine years educating juvenile delinquents.
