With Gran Turismo still waiting in the wings for the PS4, Driveclub, the social racing title promising big time social interaction has been upgraded to “most anticipated” status.
Driveclub was originally rumored to be a US launch title, with those reports dating all the way back to February of last year.
Evolution Studios already missed that window and the European release window as well. But, there was hope for the title making the February 22nd Japanese release date.
Now, those plans have been scrubbed as well. Warpedzone reports that Driveclub has been moved to the infamous “TBD” release date, which means who knows when we will see it.
Reports of jumpy and glitchy games that some feel were rushed for launch, have other studios taking more time to make sure their delivered product meets or exceeds customers expectations.
No one likes to hear that a game goes to “TBD” status and unfortunately Evolution hasn’t put anyone at ease. The studio told IGN:
“The team at Evolution Studios are working hard to bring Driveclub, a truly next gen driving experience to PS4 and we will announce the release date shortly. We’re really excited about how Driveclub is progressing and thank you for your patience.”
IGN speculates that this may not actually be a delay in Japan it may just be the residual setbacks from the West manifesting as we get closer to launch. For now race fans should set their hearts on Need For Speed if they want to play a decent racer on the PS4.
