pikanoteAre you one of those people that just doesn’t like Evernote? Yeah me too. It’s good software but sometimes it just doesn’t fill the precise void you need in a note taking application. One of those spots is taking notes in school.

Sure Evernote and hundreds of other note taking apps on the market take notes. They also do organization well, but when it comes to notes in class, especially K-12, sometimes Evernote does organization too well. It’s kind of like when you clean your room or your house and then you can’t find anything.

While there are some students that can handle impeccable organization most K-12 minds are too chaotic to focus the way an adult would focus. Now I’m sure there are a million technical words I could be using to describe this problem, but lets agree it definitely exists.

And for that…

There’s Pikanote.

“Why so many complications while everything can be gathered on only one platform?” Pikanote founder Philemon DeDeur says on their Indiegogo page. The Belgium based team behind Pikanote realizes that the problem with most note taking platforms is they’re too organized.

Now don’t get me wrong, Pikanote isn’t some chaotic mess but rather than let you drill down until you hit oil in your note taking app, Pikanote lets students organize their notes based on one topic, the way they want to. The app also allows instant recall by keywords, which can be extremely easy as well.

The best part about Pikanote is it knows what type of note you are taking when you’re taking notes. Pikanote allows you to input in your own handwriting or with the onscreen keyboard. It also allows you to write text, make links, draw, create graphs and formulas, all on the same note. It then renders those notes in the background and makes them appear crisp as if you typed them. Even with formulas which are hard to render on other note taking apps.

Pikanote hass also thrown in some other great features for grade school students like Repeat. You can record audio notes on Pikanote and just tell the app to repeat and it does just that.

The developers have also included share and socialize functions which will allow users to share and collaborate in the note taking process.

The most useful feature is synced backup which makes sure your Pikanote notes are always being backed up.

You can find out more about Pikanote here on Indiegogo where they’re giving away huge amounts of cloud based storage to backers.
