While the Apple maps app on iOS devices has greatly improved sine it’s release, and Google Maps seems to be a main stay across all smartphone users, there’s another GPS app that’s worth checking out. In fact, we won’t leave home without it.
Genius Maps is a premium offline GPS navigation app with professional maps. The offline portion is the reason I’ve been using it a lot more than the other GPS apps available to me. For starters, offline GPS means that the map files are stored on your phone rather than in the cloud. This means that even if you hit a bad spot for data you still have full GPS functionality.
Having the maps locally on your phone also means that there is less data pull saving you money on your data and saves you battery life because you’re not trying to pull data while roaming. We actually put Genius Maps to the test on our way back across the country from CES last month. In spots we’ve always had problems with cell phone and data reception, Genius Maps worked flawlessly.
