There are some great apps out there for people with food allergies like Whatzinit. Whatzinit makes it easier for people with food allergies to shop in the grocery store. But what about people that want to keep kosher?
Millions of Jewish people from around the world try hard to keep kosher. That might mean using a list of approved Kosher foods provided by a local Rabbi, or even a Kosher grocery store. But it’s not as easy as it may seem.
Several manufacturers include the Kosher symbol on their products to let people know their products are Kosher. Other manufacturers may have products that meet the strict guidelines for being Kosher but may decide not to market them as such. Either way, looking for a Kosher product symbol often means checking every product that you’re interested in purchasing. In today’s fast paced world that takes too long.
The people behind IsItKosher have created an app for both Android and iOS that can quickly tell people if it’s Kosher or not. The app gives immediate access to about 40 different resources and databases for Kosher products, putting this information at the user’s fingertips.
The app is already available for iOS here and Android here
The folks behind the app aren’t done yet though. They want to build on the platform. They are hoping to create offline access to the Kosher databases. This would allow users to use the app without having to have a connection to the internet.
They also want to add a user generated database functionality so they can crowdsource Kosher products and their availability worldwide.
For that they are raising $50,000 on Indiegogo.
