As we are gearing up to hit the Alabama Educational Technology Conference (AETC) this week, we have had the opportunity to speak with several exhibitors. Among these exhibitor companies is Lumens. We spoke to them while we were at the FETC Conference earlier this year. Anyhow, Lumens makes a ton of interesting products. The standout of these is the Ladibug, a modern take on the overhead projector. We had a chance to ask Audrey Lin, of Lumens, a few questions about the company:

Lumens

What is Lumens?

Lumens is manufacturer of the popular Ladibug document camera line. We also make HD PTZ cameras now.

Who uses the Ladibug?

The target audience of the Ladibug is primarily K12 teachers, media specialists, and principals. Our PTZ camera line is intended for videoconferencing and can be used in both universities and corporate boardrooms.

What makes your Ladibug unique?

Because Lumens has been in the digital imaging field for over 15 years, Lumens offers products with the clearest picture image in the sector. Our Ladibug document cameras also come with the most comprehensive warranty in the industry, which is a 5-year bumper-to-bumper replacement warranty that includes all parts and labor.

Why did you get involved in the Ed-Tech space?

I got involved in ed tech because of my passion for technology and belief that education can improve the lives of others.

Tell us about your team and their backgrounds

Lumens has a strong salesforce with 6 national sales managers. They are located throughout the United States and come from both education and sales backgrounds (many are former teachers themselves). The corporate office is based in Fremont, California with several staff members graduating from leading Bay Area universities. The President is based overseas in Taiwan.

What is the next step? What do your current goals look like?

Lumens is focusing on developing their PTZ camera line for the remainder of 2014. We are already known in the K12 market with the Ladibug; therefore, we plan to shift a bit of our focus to our videoconferencing cameras. A new product will be launched at the 2014 InfoComm show (we will be in booth N1731 in the North Hall!), a cutting-edge PTZ camera with audio input and ethernet interface. Also visit us at the ISTE show in Atlanta at booth 2814! For any further questions, feel free to contact Lumens Marketing at marketing@mylumens.com and follow us on Facebook and Twitter!
