Mario Kart 8 Happy Meal
The Nintendo marketing machine is in overdrive right now. Mario Kart 8 seems to be the title that’s driving record sales numbers to the Wii U which had fallen hopelessly behind when the Xbox One and Playstation 4 were released.
Nintendo has now inked the highly coveted partnership with McDonalds to put Mario Kart 8 toys in their Happy Meal boxes. McDonald’s distributes nearly 2 billion Happy Meal toys every year and ties in to the most popular children’s products.
The Mario Kart 8 Happy meal is available now in it’s own Mario Kart 8 box.
There are 8 different Mario Kart 8 Happy Meal toys including a MarioKart 8 visor along with seven character toys featuring; Mario, Luigi, Toad, Bowser, Peach, Yoshi and Donkey Kong.
Nintendo is making a big push into the toy world. At E3 this year they took the wraps off of their Super Smash Bros game which now includes NFC enabled action figures. Although the Happy Meal Toys are not NFC enabled, the brand awareness will help push figurine toys that are directly tied into the Nintendo ecosystem.
Actual numbers aren’t out yet but every chance they get Nintendo keeps pushing the fact that to date Mario Kart 8 has been their best Wii U game release.
The Mario Kart 8 Happy Meal toys are exclusive to the United States and available now at participating locations. If you’re in the Columbus, Georgia region you can even order your Happy Meal with an app.
