Nokia Treasure TagIn mobile news, Nokia has just announced the release of a pretty useful new product. The Nokia Treasure Tag (left) attaches to users’ belongings, and it alerts you when you are about to leave them behind. What’s more, there is a companion app that allows you to track down your lost items. According to the Finnish company’s product page for the Treasure Tag:

Use the Treasure Tag app to locate lost possessions, with visual and audio guidance, or using location data on a map. Keep track of multiple treasure tags with one app… The treasure tag works best with Lumia Black software, so Nokia recommends updating your Lumia smartphone to get the most out of your Nokia Treasure Tag.1

This is a great idea. As someone who is constantly losing my keys, I would have no problem spending $29.90 for the Treasure Tag. The device is set to hit shelves in April this year. The device links up to your phone through Bluetooth 4.0, and houses an internal battery that lasts up to 180 days.

Nokia AppPerhaps the only real downside for the Nokia Treasure Tag is the fact that it will only work with Nokia Windows Phones, and then only those that have upgraded to the Lumia Black software. As the Windows Phone OS represented around 3% of the total smartphone market in Q4 2013, it stands to reason that many of you reading this will not be able to take advantage of the Treasure Tag.
