Two Super Bowls ago Samsung really killed it with the final installment of the Galaxy Note’s “Next Big Thing” ad. Flash mobs, singers, surprised New Yorkers and more filled the screen in a rather epic, Super Bowl worthy commercial. After a successful run of ads that poked fun at the Apple cult like user following of early adopters, those ads kind of just ended.
More traditional ads promoting Samsung products became the norm, at least over the last year.
Had Samsung and their ad agency lost their edge? Was Samsung too busy fighting Apple in court to fight them in the living rooms of millions?
Whatever it is, Samsung and their competitive edge is back in a new commercial mocking one of Apple’s more popular ads, The Pencil.
You remember the Pencil ad, from last year. You know the one where it shows that the Apple iPad Air is as thin as a pencil. Samsung has done a great job mocking that ad.
Samsung brings up the fact that the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Pro is thinner, and lighter than the iPad Air and multi-tasks as well. Sound familiar? That’s because Amazon used an ad that mocked the iPad Air to highlight those exact same features in the HDX.
Who do you think did a better job of mocking Apple, Amazon or Samsung. Watch the Samsung ad below and the Amazon ad here, then soundoff in the comments.
