Here at Techfaster we love things that go faster and Samsung is no stranger to that. Their Exynos processor line is powering the latest and greatest in Samsung’s award winning and top selling smartphones and mobile devices, at least the Asian and European versions. The Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 are both powered by Qualcomm processors in their US based models.
Just after Christmas it was reported that Samsung would unveil their latest Exynos processor at the 2014 International CES in Las Vegas next week. The newest processor will feature 64 bit architecture which will compete with Apple’s A7 Chip, which is reportedly built on Samsung architecture as well.
Well now new reports, suggest that Samsung will unveil two new chips instead of one at CES. The South Korean company is reportedly working on the Exynos 6 chip that will be built on ARM’s 64 bit core. The second chip may be one that they are reportedly working on using it’s own 64 bit core. TalkAndroid reports that the second chip could be up to 1.43 times faster than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800.
What’s curious about this news, is that it’s widely know that Samsung’s flagship devices in the US ship with Snapdragon processors, which makes CES a peculiar venue. The Mobile World Congress is the following month in Barcelona which is where Samsung is expected to make their 2014 super phone and tablet announcements. It would make more sense, if the Exynos will only be available overseas, that they would announce it there and not at CES.
We’ll have to wait and see, but our own Drew Thompson will be at Samsung’s’ CES press conference to bring you all the action.
