If we are to believe Mark Zuckerberg, Virtual Reality is going to be the next great technology. Zuckerberg and Facebook made a $1 billion bet on this. If indeed VR is the next great frontier, Samsung has jumped out to an early lead. On Wednesday at IFA, Samsung announced Gear VR. The Gear VR is a result of a Samsung Oculus collaboration:
The Gear VR takes advantage of Samsung’s intuitive sensor technology such as accelerator, gyrometer, and magnetic sensors, and a fast response time of Super AMOLED display, which allows the unique 360-degree view of 2D and 3D virtual reality contents.1
The Samsung Gear VR delivers an unrivaled viewing experience with the 5.7 inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display of the Galaxy Note 4 providing stunning and engaging visuals at a mobile-leading resolution. With the Gear VR Innovator Edition, users can sit in the best seat of a theater, can be on-stage of a performance with full 360 3D video, and can enjoy gaming like it’s never been seen before – inside the stunning worlds where imagination becomes reality. Samsung’s industry leading Super AMOLED display technology and cutting-edge Oculus-driven technologies fuse to create an experience that surprises and delights – all on a mobile device.2
