NurrdTopGamers, geeks, cosplayers, nerds, the season of nerds is ending. The late Comicon ended last month and Dragoncon ended last week. What’s a nerd to do now until the con season fires back up?

Well you could always look around thinkgeek.com or any of those kinds of sites. You could jump on your gamer network and play video games all night, you could peruse Facebook for hours on end. But how would someone find more like minded nerds? With a Nurrd app of course.

Nurrd was created by Robert Bertrand as a social networking app for like minded geeks, nerds and gamers to find each other. Typical dating apps are a dime a dozen. Hipsters have fifty different ways to find love and friends. Until now, nerds were very limited in their social platforms. Couple that with the fact that most nerds are anti-social to begin with and that’s a recipe for disaster, or in Betrand’s case, a recipe for Nurrd.

With Nurrd you’ll set up a profile page like most other social or dating networks. But rather than talking about long walks on the beach, loving gourmet popsicles and coffee that doesn’t come from Starbucks, you’ll add your favorite nerdy shows, Star Wars characters or what RPGs you play.

“There are apps to flirt, apps to date and even apps to track your monthly cycle (if that applies to you) But what about us Facilitators of Fantasy, Weekend Warriors, Dungeon Runners and Card Battlers?” Bertrand says on the Nurrd Kickstarter page.

Betrand is a self professed Nurrd which is great because he’s created the social networking app for nerds.

Nurrd-ScreenshotNow we’re all aware of how Facebook, Twitter and even Tinder work, but what makes Nurrd fun and appealing for nerds?

  • Chatbox interface is inspired by retro dialogue boxes.
  • Profile layout is inspired by Pen&Paper Character sheets.
  • Integrated Experience point leveling system which unlocks titles, perks and special content if you’re into that grinding crap.
  • Most content is referenced to either gaming or geek related humour and design.
  • Form as many parties with multiple people as you want, to discuss topics, game together and use it as a hangout.
  • The more social and active you are the higher your Exp goes will also give you exclusive offers or discounts on some snazzy loot.
  • Connect with allies based on similar interests like board gaming, video gaming, movies and hobbies.
  • Promotes Social activity with incentives for being social that integrate gaming concepts.

Are you a nerd? It’s ok to admit it you’re either reading this on your smartphone or on your computer. Head on over here to check out Nurrd.
