PSBundleOne of the unique things about the PS4 over the Xbox One is the fact that the next gen system is finally making the PS Vita relevant. The Vita was introduced in 2011 as a replacement for the Sony PSP (Playstation Portable).

While the handheld is relatively well priced, and has great graphics for a handheld device, it never caught up with it’s predecessor in terms of software availability.  Sony did make existing PSP titles available to PS Vita users via the Playstation Network but store shelves never had more than a handful of titles.

What Sony was waiting for was the introduction of the Playstation 4 which would utilize the PS Vita as a controller of sorts, with built in video. This would be very similar to the Wii U Game Pad that ships with the Wii U out of the box. Now a gaming site called MCV is reporting that Sony s planning on marketing an “ultimate” bundle which includes the PS Vita alongside the Playstation 4.

The website is also reporting that Sony is using a marketing campaign promoting Vita as the “best way to play” on the Playstation 4 along with the availability of the bundled system. “We’re really excited for Vita as we move into Christmas,” Senior Product Manager with Sony, Ben Law told MCV. “We’ve got a great campaign with key messaging around new releases like Tearaway, the ever-growing game catalogue and the Remote Play service.” he continued.

The Remote Play feature streams the next-gen games onto the handheld system. This gives the user the ability to play on-screen games with the Vita and, like the Wii U, play PS4 games while some other video source is actually on the television.  Like many Engadget says the bundling of the PS Vita and Playsation 4 is a no-brainer.
