For the second year in a row Instagram’s busiest day came on Thanksgiving as people all over showed off their meal every step of the way. In addition to it being Thanksgiving this year the first full day of Hanukkah fell on the same day as well for the first time since 1888, and the pictures were flowing through Instagram all day. From pictures of turkeys to menorahs people took to Instagram to show their love of the holiday and spread some cheer with their friends, families and followers throughout the day.

While Instagram did not give specifics on the amount of posts, last year they said they saw over 10 million posts on Thanksgiving, which is nearly 200 posts per second. Between friends, families, football, and the variety of dishes being made to consume there is certainly plenty of pictures to share on this day. With Instagram having hit Windows Phone recently there is also an added user base to factor into the equation for this year, but if they were able to get more than 10 million pictures up throughout the day without any issues that is rather impressive.

Instagram took to their blog to show some love to their users and express how joyed they were about the accomplishment. They posted the following –

We continue to be inspired by our community and are truly humbled that so many of you choose to capture and share your holiday moments on Instagram. So from the Instagram team to you, we say “thank you.” We hope you enjoy a safe and happy holiday season.

Were you one of the ones who took to Instagram to show off your food dishes, and share your memories with everyone else out there? I know I was one of them posting pictures of the progress and finished meal, and I was enjoying to see what everyone else had to show off that day as well. Will New Years be able to capture the record this year, or will the cellular networks lock up again preventing people from getting their pictures posted?
