The App

There are an awful lot of different ideas and projects at the upcoming One Spark. However, Curt Bender’s The App is one of the most unique approaches to One Spark that we have seen. While The App does have a function and purpose, here is Curt’s answer to why it is called “The App,”

Simple answer. I can’t think of a good name for the app so, with a stroke of genius, I named it The App. I hope you all will help me find an awesome name for The App.1

So in addition to being able to vote on creator projects at One Spark, attendee will be able to name an application. This is a great way to capture the power of the crowd. We are defenitely looking forward to stopping by The App’s booth and throwing in our suggestions. Here is a good overview of Curt and The App

The App

TechFaster: Where are you displaying your project?

Curt Bender: Hemming Plaza Jewelers

Who should visit your booth?

Curt: Groupon-esque Project, so any and all consumers

What’s one thing you want the world to know about your company?

Curt: Help us name “The App” that will change the way events are planned.

What does The App do, and how does it work?

Curt: The App will be an itinerary planner with integrated savings. My first company, Pinnacle Cards, is a fundraising company that partners with local businesses to provide specials for users. I plan on using a similar concept and approach with The App.

What problem does The App taking on?

Curt: I want to create something that will help users not only save money, but also have the convenience of planning “Adventures.” Equally as important, The App will drive traffic and revenue to partnered establishments.

What was the “ah ha” moment?

Curt: I wanted to take Pinnacle Cards into the mobile app space. I realized if Pinnacle Cards went digital, it would loose the fundraising aspect. I decided to create a separate entity. The ah ha moment came to me at my internship at KYN. KYN’s co-founder was going out of town and mentioned “Trippit.” Every time I heard him say a word I wasn’t familiar with, I’d Google it. As I read the description for Trippit, I thought “man, it would be cool if I could plan a date this way.” Badda bing, badda boom, the idea for The App was born.

What’s the next step?

Curt: The next step is to name then use funding from One Spark to professionally develop The App. I will begin recruiting business partners for The App while it’s being developed.
