We just came across a really interesting Kickstarter campaign: TimberHarmony Dock Lamp. The TimberHarmony Dock Lamp (above) is a multi-purpose, customizable docking station. This is a stunning take on the standard docking station.
The TimberHarmony is “made and polished by hand from solid black walnut wood.”1 While the dock station is purpose built, the description reads more like a designer accent piece:
Smoothly sanded and hand-rubbed with natural oils and beeswax to accentuate the grain while sealing and protecting its beauty, it’s now ready to become a rustic, elegant and stylish home for any smartphone, tablet or ebook reader, watch, keys, jewelry or glasses. TimberHarmony combines clean lines and simple functions with the warmth of walnut and will become a single place to charge and display your favorite possessions while offering warm and inviting lighting.2
TimberHarmony is unique in several ways. First, as noted above, it is 100% made in the U.S. out of high-quality black walnut. The charging station is intricately carved out of the wood and is custom to each stand sold:
Whether you’re an Apple or Android fan, we’ll make the dock and wire opening to work flawlessly with your device(s) with or without a case. At the end of funding period simply let us know what device you’re using and we’ll make it fit like a glove. Wire is not included.3
Further, the lighting aspect of the stand is incredibly inventive. There are two different choices for the lighting: an in-base LED light, or a vintage-style brass socket with an Edison bulb:
The LED light includes a base that is the same size as standard Mason Jars, making it incredibly flexible:
We’ve used triple LED light source and integrated it into a base capable of accommodating ANY wide mouth Mason Jar to serve as lamp shade. Simply twist one jar off and replace it with another! It’s as simple as that.4
Overall, the TimberHarmony Dock Lamp is a pretty unique docking stand. The Kickstarter Campaign launched on Tuesday, and the TimberHarmony Dock Lamp is set as the reward for a pledge of $275; the lamp itself – smaller and without the dock – is a reward for a pledge of $175.
