It’s not just the Xbox One and the PS4, the cry that there aren’t enough launch titles has faced every new system that’s come to market since the Super Nintendo. Developers and manufacturers aren’t going to sink millions and millions of dollars into a system until they’re 100% sure that the system is going to sell. Just look at what’s happening with the Nintendo Wii U.
And then there’s the issue, or non-issue, of backwards compatibility. Everyone seems to feel that the PS4 and the Xbox One should have both been backwards compatible with their previous generation systems. Um did Nintendo or Sega ever make a system that was backwards compatible? New system means new games it’s part of the console economy.
The good news is that the console is not dead, at least not yet. Both the Xbox One and the PS4 are selling nicely, both systems seem to be hitting their targets, and now, at least in the United States, in store stock volumes are beginning to come back. Both systems have a good sized batch of quality titles coming this year but if you can’t wait to play more games, no worries.
On Thursday OnlySP reported on two new sites run by the same company, Xboxie and Sonyfied. Both sites offer HTML5 web games that can be played on the corresponding console’s controllers. Of course Xboxie is for the Xbox One and Sonyfied is for the Playstation 4.
We got a chance to play around on both sites with both systems last night and this morning. Both sites are pretty much aggregators of HTML5 game sites that allow play with the controller. There are tens of thousands of websites out there that allow users to play using a keyboard and mouse, the tricky part is allowing play via a controller and being able to play without having to download software.
You’ll find PacMan, cut the rope, a link to Atari’s arcade site and many more. Literally hours and hours of fun await you and all of the games allow you to use the controller.
Try it out now, for Xbox One go to Xboxie.com and for PS4 go to Sonyfied.com
