A few weeks ago, we told you about the Nokia Treasure Tag. The Treasure Tag, “attaches to users’ belongings, and it alerts you when you are about to leave them behind. What’s more, there is a companion app that allows you to track down your lost items.”1 While that is an awesome concept, the $29.90 price tag seems a bit steep. Enter XY.
The XY performs, essentially, the same task as the Nokia Treasure Tag, at a much lower price point. Currently, the XY is the subject of a Kickstarter campaign. At the time of writing, the XY has smoked its $45,000 goal, raising a total of $80,227 so far. With 38 days left to go, it looks like they could pull in a huge amount of funding.
So what exactly is the XY, and how does it work?
XY is a Bluetooth LE powered tracking tag that you can put on anything important to you. The tag syncs with your smartphone to help you keep track of all the things that matter to you. You can attach as many XY tags to your phone as you like, and can easily find your nearby tags.2
Currently, you can pre-order an XY for $17 through the Kickstarter Campaign. There is even an XY for your pet! Here is a quick video overview of the XY:
