android hardware

There are tons of Android phones on the market, just look at the graph of Android fragmentation above – from Business Insider. The diversity of Android hardware makes finding the perfect phone a complex task. There are many lists out there of the best android phones, but we have decided to take a look at some of the phones that set the bar for performance. Although some of the phones we selected are a bit older, they are still of very high quality. Plus, in being a bit older these phones often come with a huge price slash. Anyhow, here are some Android phones worth considering for the 2013 Holiday Season:

Samsung Galaxy S 4

The flagship Galaxy S series of phones from Samsung gets better and better with every release. Released in April of this year Samsung claims that they’ve already sold 40 million units.

The Galaxy S4 has already been updated to Android version 4.3 across most carriers and speculation is that Kit Kat (Androdi 4.4) will be available for the device in the near future. It’s also been said that the Galaxy S4 will be the next device to integrate with Samsung’s Galaxy Gear Smart Watch.

The phone features a 13mp camera, a 1920x1080HD video camera, Quadcore SnapDragon processor and 16gb of onboard storage.

HTC One X

While the HTX One X is the most expensive on the list – on Amazon from $200 – it is well worth the price. Again, according to Engadget’s review, “There’s absolutely no doubt that the One X is a masterpiece of an Android device.” It is pretty clear that both HTC and Samsung know what they are doing in the Android realm.

Motorola Droid Razr M

Following the most expensive on the list, the Motorola Razr M is one of the best values. To kind-of sound like a record here, Engadget argued that Motorola succeeded when they, “set their sights on creating a super-dependable smartphone for the everyperson — one that’s inoffensive in its design, pared down for comfort and easy to use on the software front.” The Razr M is available for $0.99 from Verizon – with new contract – and starts at $49.99 from Motorola directly.

There you have it. These are some benchmark Android devices. There are, certainly, many more worthy of inclusion here, but these are our favorites. Feel free to add your choices in the comments. Remember, though, this was a look at some of the phones that set the standard of Android performance and are still available.
