At the 2015 International CES, we saw a ton of interesting new products. Though we have seen a lot of different things, more often than not, they fell into the standard, tech-centric categories. Things like 3D printing, the internet of things, wearables, virtual reality, TVs and the like. However, one of the coolest things that I saw was a sewing machine.1 Brother has created one of the most functional sewing machines out there:

Brother 1

This is the Brother Dream Machine Innovis XV8500D. While naming products may not be Brother’s forte, they can clearly design a sewing machine. As you can see in the image above, The Dream Machine is loaded with features. The first thing that jumps out is the massive display. You can’t really tell from any of the images, but this screen is incredibly clear and crisp. At 10.1 inches, it may as well be built in, high-end tablet. 2

in embroidery designs which include more than 160 that feature Disney characters, the 140 frame patter combinations, and the 22 different embroidery lettering fonts. What’s more, you can upload and edit your own designs. But wait, there is even more:

scanner

The Brother Dream Machine features a first-of-its-kind built-in scanner. The scanner allows you to copy images up to 8.5” x 12”. All in all, the Dream Machine is an incredible device.

  1. I have sort of unintentionally followed the sewing industry from afar. My mother is a huge sewer and is always up on the latest products.
  2. The 11.25” designation on the image below refers to the work space – the amount of space between the base of the machine and the needle.
