We’re gearing up for the International Society for Technology in Education 2014 Conference (ISTE) coming up on June 28th. We have had the opportunity to speak with several exhibitors. Among these exhibitor companies is Lightspeed Systems. Lightspeed Systems has a few different products that “make learning safe, mobile and collaborative.” 1 We had a chance to ask the team a few questions about the products. You can see them at ISTE in booth #3414.

What is Lightspeed Systems?

Lightspeed Systems creates products that fulfill the promise of technology integrated learning. We are committed to helping educators transition into collaborative online learning. Our mission is to transform education by safely and easily connecting people, resources, and technology.

What makes Lightspeed Systems different than what is currently available?

We imagine a class of students in a classroom, moving between offline projects and their mobile devices, accessing content, communicating, collaborating, creating — engaged rather than frustrated and empowered rather than constricted. That is the classroom we want to help create.

Rather than blocking students from the Web, today our mission is to connect them to it — to resources, technology, and other people. (Still safely, of course!)

Why did you get involved in the Education?

We believe that technology has the power to transform education by engaging students in meaningful projects, creating learning communities, extending learning beyond the class walls and school bells, and by making sure that schools are empowered to safely and easily use transformative technologies.

Tell us about your team and their backgrounds

We have almost 200 team members working around the world. We are based in Austin, Texas with offices in Bakersfield, CA, Portland, OR, London, and Australia. Our Executive Team: http://www.lightspeedsystems.com/company/executive-leadership/

What is the next step? What do your current goals look like?

Education needs the technology revolution that has transformed every other industry. How do we get there? By engaging students in meaningful projects, by creating learning communities, by extending learning beyond the class walls and school bells, and by making sure that schools are empowered to safely and easily use transformative technologies.

That’s where we come in… Lightspeed Systems partners with schools to make learning safe, mobile and collaborative.
