Last fall I spent three great days in Cincinnati hearing about the latest and greatest in technology, apps and startups, fine tuned and catered for creators, technologists and founders from “everywhere else”. Nick Tippmann the co-creator of the Everywhere Else conference series says that they purposely target innovation from outside Silicon Valley, and to a degree, New York.
The Everywhere Else Cincinnati conference featured some great speakers like Priceline co-founder Jeff Hoffman, Speek and e-vite co-founder John Bracken, and YEC founder Scott Gerber amongst over 30 other great speakers. The back to back content packed talks were perfect for any technology business founder, at any stage, creating anywhere.
Everywhere Else is now coming into it’s third event, and their back in Memphis Tennessee. Last year’s inaugural Everywhere Else conference was held in Memphis and called one of the Must Attend conferences by Forbes magazine. During the Cincinnati conference I heard many stories about how great the Memphis conference was, and of course the Memphis culture and after parties. The parties in Cincinnati were great so I’m sure those who attend the Memphis event are in for a treat.
Although last year Everywhere Else Memphis reportedly saw over 1000 attendees Tippmann along with Monica Selby have scaled the event down to make it a little more intimate, rather than holding it at a convention center like they did with the previous two events this year’s is at an event space called 409 Main. But with that scaling down of attendees they’ve actually attracted some even bigger names across the technology space.
Techstars Managing Director Nicole Glaros, Square Co-Foudner Jim McKelvey, 500 Startups Partner and Founder of the Disruption Corporation, Paul Singh, Josh Miller the founder of Branch, Chris Lyons of Andreessen Horowitz and many more are slated to speak. One of my favorite speakers at the Cincinnati conference was Chicago based entrepreneur Jared Steffes. His talk about going from the “cut up” kid of a Chicago area businessman into a founder with some wild, and wildly successful ideas, left people wanting more.
More is what you’ll get too in the after parties, and the pre-event kick off party which is a pub crawl on Memphis’ infamous Beale Street. They are also holding an old school dance party, and a closing mixer. While you’re down there don’t forget to have some BBQ.
