Earlier this month when we kicked off our Holiday Gift Guide we brought you the Zepp GolfSense 3 a sensor device that attaches to your golf glove and helps you manage and track your golf swing. Now Zepp has announced the availability of their MultiSport Training System.
While most wearable fitness devices track the movement on your body and other things like vital signs, Zepp has taken a different approach where the sensor goes onto the device your using. As with their GolfSense product where the sensor goes onto the golf glove, the MultiSport Training System captures the data points from a tennis racket, a baseball bat and other sporting equipment.
The new Zepp training system captures helpful performance data for each sport by combining a small streamlined sensor, sport specific mounts and beautiful mobile applications. The team at Zepp Labs worked closely with players and coaches of all levels including professionals from the San Francisco Giants, PGA Tour and ATP.
The Zepp Sensor and mounts were designed to be extremely lightweight and stay out of the athlete’s way so that they can focus on their game.
“Building on the success of our first product, GolfSense, and the tremendous growth in the smart sensor category, we are thrilled to bring the new Zepp Sports Platform to market,” said Jason Fass, chief executive officer of Zepp Labs. “We’ve built a system that delivers helpful data and instant feedback to athletes and coaches allowing them to analyze and improve their game like never before. The new sensor and dedicated sport apps are the first step in our mission to change the way people practice, play, and experience the sports they love.”
Zepp Sensor
The Zepp 3D motion sensor was designed with the athlete in mind. It is extremely small, about 1-inch square, less than half an inch thick and weighs just 6.3 grams, so it never impedes the athlete’s performance. Constructed of a rugged rubber exterior and shock-resistant core, the sensor is also extremely durable to withstand all types of abuse on the baseball field, golf course and tennis court.
Each sensor contains a powerful ARM processor, multiple motion sensors, storage for up to 200,000 swings (200,000 tennis swings / 2,000 baseball and golf swings) and up
to 8 hours of battery life (varies by use). Using innovative sport-specific mounts, the Zepp sensor easily attaches to any baseball or softball bat, tennis racket or golf glove. It captures 1,000 data points per second and transfers all of this data to a user’s smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth.
In addition to GolfSense the new Zepp system includes Zepp Baseball, Zepp Golf and Zepp Tennis.
Zepp Baseball, Zepp Golf and Zepp Tennis are available today at zepp.com for $149.99 each. All three products will be available at Apple stores beginning November 19th and select Verizon Wireless stores beginning November 21st.
