A BGR article from Monday March 24th shows an image of what is purportedly a mold of the new iPhone 6.1 The mold – again, purportedly, there is no way of knowing with any sort of accuracy if it is authentic – was posted online by a third-party phone case maker. These case makers are often given, “molds of the unannounced smartphones in order to get a jump on designing and manufacturing cases that will be ready at launch, instead of sometime later after the phone has been released. Now, one such mold that reveals the design of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6 may have been discovered.”2 Here are the two photos, posted on a Japanese phone case maker’s website: Bling-My-Thing:
While it is hard to say, with any degree of certainty, whether or not these are legitimate, the mold seems to confirm some of the iPhone 6 rumors. These rumors seem to be pretty close to the specs that the Bling My Thing article provides:
- Two sizes – 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches
- Screens made entirely out of sapphire crystal
Pixel density of 441 pixels per inch, from the current 326 ppi display- There will be optical image stabilisation for the 8 megapixel camera
- f/1.8 aperture lens – an improvement over the iPhone 5s’ current f/2.2 lens
- New 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard
- Pressure, temperature and humidity sensors
- Possibly a solar power charger built into the screen3
Again, take this with a grain of salt. When we know more about the upcoming iPhone, we will let you know.
