New technology, new policies (BYOD and the like), and tighter security have rapidly changed how networks are managed. This shift, in turn, is forcing IT pros to develop their skill-sets accordingly to deal with the shifting network landscape. But what will the next five years bring? How can companies employ a forward-thinking approach and help IT pros deal with the next generation of network complexity challenges?
SolarWinds recently conducted a survey of network administrators to determine the biggest drivers of network complexity, and asked the group to look to the future, and predict which skills IT pros will need in the next five years. The top three responses were:
- Mobile applications and device management
- Network engineering
- Compute virtualization
With these impending skill-set requirements in mind, SolarWinds developed the following infographic (based on the survey results) that describes the current IT network landscape; the technologies, IT operations changes and business drivers that are propelling network complexity; and how they’re directly affecting the IT pro. The infographic also offers up some cost effective ways IT pros can stay ahead of the curve for those of you not wanting to be left behind.
