Shopping online is great. There is such a large selection that you can find just about anything you are looking for. However, finding the best deal or sale takes perseverance. Well, we just came across a new startup that will help you monitor the price of products: PWUL (Pay What U Like). We had a chance to ask the PWUL team a few questions about their new product:
PWUL
What is PWUL?
Want it. Track it. Get it for less.
You tell us what you want. We tell you when it’s reduced or hits a target you set.
PWUL is your personal shopper, budgeter and sales spy all rolled into one. Here are just a few reasons it’s the smartest way to shop.
Ever bought something full price, only to find it marked down later?
Forget your fear of missing out. PWUL can track anything you ask it to, so you only buy when the price drops.
Ever played cat and mouse with the sales?
We’ll be your eyes and ears on every single online retailer, alerting you the instant any item you’re after goes into a sale.
Ever been bamboozled into bad impulse buys?
Shops use tried and tested tricks to get you to buy stock they can’t shift –seasonal tat, odd sizes, you name it. But with PWUL you can stick to your wish list, spend wisely and steer clear of clutter.
Ever needed help sticking to a budget?
PWUL lets you set a target price for an item. So if your object of desire is reduced but not enough, you needn’t buy until it’s in budget.
According to research by Experian, 54% of shopping in the January sales tends to be spontaneous. Not surprisingly, the research also shows we deem almost £2 billion of what we spend in those same sales to be a ‘waste of money’. Combine that with festive excess and our increasingly squeezed incomes, and PWUL couldn’t have come along at a better time.
PWUL works like a budgeting tool with the fun of window-shopping thrown in. Just sign up with email, make a wish list and wait for the savings to roll in. It puts rational shopping decisions at your fingertips, helping you stick to your budget while getting what you want without compromising on quality or price. The app works on any browser, any device and is completely free.
Why did you build PWUL?
We’ve all played cat and mouse with the shops – waiting for that iPad, it bag or object of desire to be marked down in the sales.
Then, when we’re at last bombarded by slashed prices and screaming signage, we fall prey to sales hysteria. Impulse buys later, we’re left out of pocket and lumbered with returns.
PWUL saves you time, money and hassle. It is also completely free.
How is your product different from what is currently available?
We are passionate about creating a tool that makes people feel good. The idea of saving users money and time appeals but it is really all about making them feel good. The fizzle of excitement when you find something you want, track it, then buy it later at a saving.
Tell us your founding story. Was there an “ah ha” moment?
Everyone wants to judiciously save money. Everyone can save money by spending a bit more time researching and being less impulsive when they purchase items.
PWUL should provide a purchase like experience but without spending money. The experience must be easier than purchasing something and have the same feel-good factor but the users not spend a penny.
The ability to see collectively, in a feed, the overall saving the user has made from not impulse buying, and then choosing to purchase an item at a better price, is very empowering.
Tell us about your founding team and their backgrounds.
